It was super foggy for a few days this week. It was kind of strange but also kind of nice. So far, fog is the pretty much the only kind of weather San Diego gets apart from sunny. I went for a walk one of the foggy days, and took these pictures.

Also, yesterday was Christmas. I went for a festive hike (ok that sounds like a totally cheesy teva-wearing American thing to do. I swear to baby jesus that I am still teva-free. Come on guys, I'm still hip!! Aren't I? guys...?) with a couple of my friends (and strangely, there were like 20 other families on the track. I am so glad my parents didn't make me go hiking on christmas day when I was a kid, I would have been so unhappy about it). Then we ate some food. Here are a couple of summit-photos, with Brian and Kate both looking weird because they were unprepared for my mad photo taking skills.

Note also - it is winter. The shortest day of the year was 3 days ago. Mmm hmm.

Ok just quickly, I wanted to mention that I have found some great thrift store stuff lately (I can't say op shop any more, no one understands). I got these great Jack Purcels for $2!!! (and I just can't feel bad about buying Converse if they are 2nd hand), an awesome corduroy wallet/purse thing, some awesome 80s teen movies, and some Masters of the Universe audio tapes - "Caverns of Fear" and "The Thief of Castle Greyskull". Sweeeeeeet.
Here is a point of view shot of my shoes from one minute ago.

Photos of Stuff.
Well, my friend Cathy turned 25 last weekend. I mean the weekend before last. Whatever. Time flies and all that. Anyway, she rented a room in a schmancy hotel, so people could get debauched in luxary and wear bath robes and steal toiletries. I have lots of photos from the night, but mostly they are boring drunk-people photos, so here's just one:
Deanna, Owen and Cathy in a pile-up-of-love, with Sarah looking entertained in the background.

The morning/afternoon after, at this place called the Hash House which has huge breakfasts and amazing bloody marys. See those plates in front of us? Those plates are as big as my torso. That's breakfast. Vege fry up, mashed potatoes, "biscuit" (scone), watermelon, rosemary(?), times infinity. HUGE. aaaarrrrrrgh!

So today I went for a "hike" with Cathy and her boyf. That's what they call it here. "Hiking". Whatever. Anyway, we went to this place called Julien which is kinda north east, and was deserty and hilly, and apparently full of mountain lions. There are lots of forest fires, which explains the blackness of the trees. Here is Cathy and Will on the road bit that we first walked up.

Here I am. Same as ever. Ew, the trees look kinda gross and scary. But really, it was all pretty. Even the black trees, and even the prison gang we saw cutting firewood on the way up. Cathy made me carry this pinecone the whole way so she could give it to her mum, who apparently collects them.

Cathy also had her own pinecone.

Hills trees etc.

Complex give-way sign. Note the arrows, directing who should yeild to who. It seemed to be a rock-paper-scissors kind of system.

And finally, Cathy and Will looking kinda like a middle aged couple and posing in front of this mural thing in the town of Julien, which is a super cute but totally chi-chi tourist town, with lots of ye-olde-timee stuff and good pie.
